A good photo makes the difference

  • Look straight at the camera, with your head level.
  • Use even daylight, without strong side shadows.
  • Keep your face visible. Remove glasses and avoid filters.
  • Use a recent photo with just one face and a neutral expression.

What is a PSL scale test?

PSL is a 1–8 looks rating that grew out of online forums, and a PSL scale test tries to place one face somewhere on that range. Most tests online ask strangers to vote or give a number without saying how it was reached. This one starts from measurements you can check: it reads 478 facial landmarks from your photo, scores four kinds of proportion, combines them into one geometry harmony number out of 100, and converts that number into a PSL-style band such as ≈ 4–4.5 or ≈ 5–6.

A PSL score from measured proportions

Four parts feed the score: left–right symmetry (35%), the balance of the visible facial thirds (25%), the five horizontal fifths across the face (25%) and how close the height-to-width ratio sits to a reference (15%). Each part is shown next to the band, so you can see whether symmetry or spacing moved the result rather than receiving a bare verdict.

Why the PSL scale test returns a band

The forum scale has no official definition, so a decimal such as 4.37 would claim precision that does not exist. The PSL scale test therefore reports five bands from below middle to upper, each tied to a stated harmony range. Two photos that land in the same band should be read as the same result.

Why use our PSL scale test?

A rating is only useful when you know what produced it. This PSL scale test publishes its formula, measures the photo on your own device and keeps the scale in perspective: it describes the geometry of one image, not personal worth, health or how other people will see you.

Private by default

The landmark scan and the PSL calculation run in your browser. Your photo is not uploaded for the free result, and no account is needed. Upload happens only if you later choose the paid face report and confirm that step separately.

The same measurements as our other tools

Symmetry, thirds, fifths and the height-to-width ratio are the same measurements used across MyStyleLens, so a result here lines up with what the symmetry, ratio and golden ratio pages show for the same photo. If one part looks surprising, you can open the matching tool and inspect it in detail.

How to take the PSL scale test in 3 steps

  1. Add a clear front photo

Face the camera straight on with a relaxed, neutral expression, hair away from the face edges and even light. Avoid wide-angle selfies held close to the face; step back or use a rear camera so the lens does not stretch your features.

Preview your photo in a true mirror
  2. Read the band and the four parts

The PSL scale test shows your band, the harmony score behind it and the four component scores. Open the formula panel to see every band boundary and which one your photo reached.

    Measure your facial ratios
  3. Compare photos, not single numbers

Take the test again with another photo under similar conditions. If both land in the same band, that band is a fair summary of the geometry; if they differ, pose or lighting is the likely cause. Continue to the full face report only when you want the detailed breakdown.

How it works
  1. 1Add one clear photo or open the camera.
  2. 2Use the controls to inspect or adjust the result.
  3. 3Save, print, or continue only when the result is useful.

PSL scale test FAQ

What is PSL looksmaxxing?

In looksmaxxing communities, PSL is shorthand for a strict 1–8 looks rating. Members use it to describe faces with labels such as average, high-tier or PSL god. It is slang with no fixed definition; our PSL scale test borrows only the 1–8 range and fills it with measured, disclosed geometry.

What does PSL stand for?

PSL is usually explained as the initials of three early looks-rating forums: PUAhate, Sluthate and Lookism. Outside that context the same letters mean many unrelated things, from a pumpkin spice latte to sports leagues, so check the setting before assuming which meaning is intended.

What is a PSL score?

A PSL score is a single number or range on the 1–8 scale. Forum ratings come from opinion; in this PSL scale test the score comes from a geometry harmony number built from symmetry, thirds, fifths and phi proximity, then converted into one of five bands.

How to find your PSL score?

Upload a clear front photo above. The landmark scan runs in your browser, the four component scores are calculated, and you receive a PSL-style band with the harmony score and formula. For a steadier answer, test two or three photos taken in similar light.

What is the PSL scale?

It is an informal 1–8 scale where about 4 is treated as average and 7 or more is described as rare. The bands are community conventions, not survey data. Here the scale is used as a familiar way to express measured proportions, with the cut-off points published in the formula panel.

What does PSL god mean?

PSL god is forum slang for someone rated at the very top of the scale, usually around 7.5–8. A geometry-only test cannot award that label: our upper band starts at ≈ 6+ and simply means the measured proportions were close to every reference at once.

Is PSL accurate?

PSL ratings are opinions, so they vary from rater to rater. The measurements in this PSL scale test are repeatable for the same photo, but pose, lens distance and expression change landmarks between photos. Treat the band as a description of that image rather than a fixed fact about you.

What does low PSL mean?

In forum use, a low PSL rating is roughly 3 or below. In this tool, the lowest band (≈ 3.5–4) only means the measured proportions sat further from the references in that photo. It says nothing about character or worth, and a different photo can move it.

Is this PSL scale test free and online?

Yes. The PSL scale test runs online in your browser at no cost and without sign-up. The optional face report is the only paid part, and it is offered after you have seen your free result.

Does the PSL scale test work for women and men?

Yes. The same four measurements and weights are used for every face, and the bands do not change by gender. Forum ratings often apply different standards to women and men; this test does not attempt to model those opinions.

What is an average PSL score?

On the forum scale, about 4 is treated as average. In this test the broad middle band is ≈ 4–4.5, covering harmony scores from 56 to 74. Many clear, well-lit photos land there or in the band just above.

What photo works best for a PSL scale test?

A straight-on photo at eye level, taken from about an arm's length or further, with a neutral expression and hair clear of the jaw and forehead. Avoid filters, beauty modes and strong side light, because they shift landmark positions.

Which measurements does this PSL test use?

Symmetry 35%, visible facial thirds 25%, facial fifths 25% and phi proximity of the height-to-width ratio 15%. Their weighted sum is the harmony score, and fixed harmony ranges map to the five PSL-style bands.

Why do I get a range instead of an exact number?

Because the PSL convention has no precise definition. Converting a measured score into a decimal rating would invent accuracy, so the result is a band with its harmony score shown alongside it.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. For the free result the photo is read and measured in your browser and is not sent to our servers. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose the paid report and confirm the upload.
