What is a golden ratio face?
A golden ratio face is one whose proportions sit close to phi, about 1.618. Phi is a mathematical constant found in geometry and art, not a rule of beauty. This tool compares your photo with three separate references: a 1.618 golden rectangle, a 1.38 height-to-width window and facial thirds of 18%, 41% and 41%. Each answers a different question, so the page shows them side by side instead of blending them into one grade.
The golden ratio face overlay (phi plate) uses cheekbone span to set its width and a cheek-aligned frame to place the rectangle, target top and eight possible quarter-circle arcs. Those arcs illustrate a rectangle partition rather than a perfect logarithmic spiral or a facial beauty mask. You can turn the overlay off to check the unmarked photo. Nothing in the free calculation requires a language-model opinion or an automatic photo upload.
How the calculator draws the phi plate
The width of the rectangle follows the distance between your cheekbones, and its target top shows where a 1.618 height would end. Quarter-circle arcs illustrate how a golden rectangle divides into smaller squares. They are a construction guide, not a beauty mask, and you can hide them to check the unmarked photo.
Find your face shapeGolden face ratio and facial thirds
Upper, middle and lower sections run from the top of the visible face to the brows, the base of the nose and the chin. Each share is divided by their connected total. The tool cannot see your true hairline, so treat the thirds as a reading of this photo rather than a classical hairline-to-chin analysis.
Measure more facial ratiosHeight/width uses the straight two-dimensional distance from visible mesh top to chin divided by the distance between the cheek points. The upper, middle and lower sections instead divide their own Euclidean lengths by their connected total. An off-axis brow midpoint can make that chain longer than the straight height. This is why the tool does not substitute projected rail pixels for the measured values or silently force the three shares to equal one third.
The section boundaries follow visible mesh and brow-peak landmarks. They do not locate the true hairline and are not interchangeable with a classical hairline-to-chin analysis. The 18/41/41 balance is a stated product convention. The external published H/W summary shown with attribution is another reference with its own date and scan count; it does not provide percentiles for these three shares or turn a high index into a population rank.
Why use our golden ratio face calculator?
Every number comes with the line it was measured from, so you can see what the calculator compared instead of trusting a single score. Nothing in the free calculation relies on a language model or a hidden formula.

How we handle photosA face golden ratio reading with clear limits
Camera distance, focal length, head turn and expression all change the ratios. The index describes one visible ratio in this photo. It is not a population rank, an attractiveness rating or a target to reach, and the tool never suggests changing your face.
Compare with face symmetryCalculating the golden ratio face in image pixels accounts for the photo's width and height. Translation, uniform resizing and in-plane rotation leave the ratios unchanged, but that does not correct camera perspective or recover hidden anatomy. Distance, focal length, head turn, expression and landmark placement can all affect a reading. A general alignment warning is information to inspect, not a specialised clinical pose assessment.
The local golden ratio face detector and a published source may use different landmark versions, image preparation and filtering. Seven published quantile values allow a rough summary comparison, not an exact empirical rank or a claim about a representative population. The tool does not infer attractiveness, diagnose a condition or recommend changing a face to reach any target. Use the geometry to understand this image, not to measure personal worth.
How to use it in 3 steps
Use a relaxed front view
Choose a clear adult portrait with your whole face visible, head level and even light. Avoid filters, strong expressions and close wide-angle selfies, which stretch the centre of the face. The labelled sample photo runs through the same local scan if you want to try it first.
Check your pose in the true mirrorSelect each reading
Highlight height/width to see the measured and target tops, or pick the upper, middle or lower section to see its bracket. Open the formula if a tilted photo makes a line look longer than the distance shown.

Preview the card with or without your photo, then download the PNG with the four readings and what the index means. Copying the link shares the tool only, not your photo or numbers.

Golden ratio face FAQ
What is a golden ratio face?
It is a face whose proportions sit close to phi, about 1.618, such as face length to width. It is a mathematical idea borrowed from geometry, not proof of beauty.
How to calculate golden ratio face?
Divide face length by face width and compare the result with 1.618. This calculator does it from your photo and shows each line it measured.
Do I have a golden ratio face?
Upload a straight-on photo to see how close your height-to-width ratio and thirds are to the references. Very few faces match exactly, and small gaps are normal.
Who has the golden ratio face?
Celebrity rankings online use different measurements, photos and angles, so they rarely agree. This tool measures your own photo and does not rank people.
How to get a golden ratio face?
You do not need one. Hairstyles, glasses and makeup can change how proportions read in photos, and changing your face to hit 1.618 is not a goal this tool supports.
What is a good golden ratio face score?
There is no medical or scientific cut-off. Our index only shows how close one visible ratio in this photo is to its reference, so compare it only with photos taken the same way.
Is golden ratio face app accurate?
Results depend on the photo. Landmarks are estimated from a 2D image, so lens, pose and expression add error. Check the drawn lines to judge each reading.
Is the golden ratio the same for men and women?
The same 1.618 reference applies to everyone; this tool does not use separate male or female targets or guess your gender.
Can I see a golden ratio template or grid?
Yes. The result draws a phi rectangle, arcs and thirds brackets on your photo, and the diagram above shows the construction.
What is the golden ratio formula for a face?
Phi equals (1 + √5) / 2, about 1.618. For a face, length divided by width is compared with it; thirds compare each section with the total height.
Can I upload a photo to this calculator?
Yes. Upload a JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC photo or take one with your camera; it is analysed in your browser, not uploaded.
Does matching the golden ratio make a face more attractive?
No. Studies find only weak links between phi and attractiveness. Expression, skin, styling and personal taste matter far more.
What are the upper, middle and lower thirds in the result?
They are three stacked sections from the top of the visible face to the brows, nose base and chin, compared with 18%, 41% and 41%.
Does this calculator upload my photo?
No. The calculation runs in your browser and the free result stays on your device. A paid report asks for separate consent before any upload.
